Landsite had extensive involvement in the landscape feasibility concept planning for the original landowners of this site back in 2011, prior to the Quay II project. Once Intrapac Property acquired the site, Landsite was engaged to become the Landscape Architects to undertake the landscape masterplaning, streetscape design, reserve design, documentation and implementation management.

There are a number of open space areas associated with this project including a large playground, which sits at the edge of a natural amphitheatre. The design of this playground works in harmony with the topography of the site, retains significant 100 year old trees and given the elevation of the play equipment, provides sweeping ocean views across Torquay and into Bass Strait.

Working with Playscape Creations, the design for the main play ground includes separate areas designed to cater for different ages and abilities.

Children in the 3-5 year old age group have been provided with a sand play area, rope area and climbing mound with a small slide. This sits alongside the area set out for older children (typically 5-12 year olds) which features a more adventurous and sophisticated climbing structure, elevated rooms, viewing decks and slide linked within the structure drawing upon nautical themes. Internal activities within the structure provide mental as well as physical challenges around playground themes.

Low-set retaining walls are designed to provide seating for supervising parents/guardians and there are also drinking fountains, shade structures and adjoining BBQ area included.
