Landsite is proud of our ongoing involvement in the project, having worked across various elements and stages of the development since 2011.
Previously the site of market gardens Somerfield is now a large residential estate with aproximately 2500 home sites across the project.
Landsite’s expertise in waterway design and management, meant were also engaged to manage the waterway elements of the site so that they became not only amenable recreation corridors, but also dealt with the conveyance of stormwater and improved the overall environmental value of the waterway.
There were several challenges, which we successfully overcame, due to the previous historical use of the site as a market garden and cut flower growing areas, particularly with re-establishing and rehabilitating previous water courses.
In addition to the waterways, Landsite also became to involved in all the medium density sites across the project. This included the detailed landscape design for the streetscapes as well as the landscape design for all the individual home sites.
Landsite undertook the design of the largest open space area which comprised of kickabout areas, bocce courts, a playground, shade and sheltered picnic and BBQ areas, entry arbour and walking trails. This was a complex task, as our client only owned a section of the overall park area. When the adjacent landowners declined to develop the park further, council took over the site and engaged Landsite to complete the design, documentation and implementation of the parkland in its entirety
